San Diego County’s leading newspaper has launched its own probe of municipal finances in the wake of Bell’s salary scandal.
According to today’s front-page story in the San Diego Union-Tribune, the highest paid manager in the county works in the midsize city of San Marcos. Total compensation: $408,793. Other officials enjoy $1,000-a-month car allowances and two months worth of vacation.
