A brush fire in the San Bernardino National Forest had scorched 100 acres on the northern edge of Lake Silverwood by Tuesday night but was not threatening any structures, officials said.
Nearly 300 firefighters were battling the Miller fire, which broke out about 5 p.m., the U.S. Forest Service said. Shortly before 9 p.m., the blaze was 5% contained.
The agency said all roads are open in the area, which is south of Hesperia and north of Crestline.
The cause is under investigation.
