A Wilmington jewelry store owner shot three robbery suspects Wednesday evening, killing one of them, police said.
The shooting occurred in the 800 block of North Avalon Boulevard shortly after 6p.m. when four men entered the business, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Two of the wounded suspects were taken to a nearby hospital, where one was pronounced dead, LAPD spokeswoman Karen Rayner said.
One of the suspects fled the scene and was being sought Wednesday night by police. Anyone with information is asked to call (877) LAPD 24-7.
At least 37 homicides have been reported in Wilmington since January 2007, according to a database compiled by The Times' Homicide Report.
