Evacuations were underway in the Angeles National Forest near Palmdale after a fast-moving brush fire broke out Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department was battling the blaze, which started just after 3 p.m. near Big Pine Road and Lago Vista Road.
Television news footage from KTLA-TV Channel 5 shows the fire burning in a fairly remote hillside area, with few structures dotting the landscape.
At least 15 acres have burned southeast of Palmdale, authorities said.
