Blood and hot bodies aside, there's a breakout star to be found in guilty-pleasure movie "Piranha 3D" -- British crossover actress Kelly Brook, with a performance likely to get her noticed stateside.
"It's quite difficult to make a girl like her likable, someone who runs around in a bikini and does a nude underwater ballet with another porn star," Brook said, "but what's great is that Danni knows who she is and has a sense of humor about it. She's sort of blase about the whole thing."
This doesn't mean Brook herself didn't occasionally blush. One particular scene has Jerry O'Connell, playing Danni's loud-mouthed porn boss, directing costar Riley Steele's character to plant her face in Danni's cleavage.
"I was cringing," Brook said of seeing it on the big screen, in 3-D no less.
"I keep getting texts from my friends saying, 'Motorboat!' 'Motorboat!' ... but hey, man, I'm 30. If I'm not going to do it now, when am I going to do it?"
Ideally, she'll continue in the genre, in line with "visual directors like Quentin Tarantino and ...
... Robert Rodriguez. I'd love to do a Russ Meyer-type film, running around the desert with a big shotgun.""They say you shouldn't go to Hollywood, you should be invited," she said. "I'm really privileged that I've been invited to take part in this movie."
Big-screen ambitions are currently a priority over her personal life -- though Brook has dated the likes of Billy Zane and Jason Statham, and was recently linked to "Glee" star Matthew Morrison.
"I'm completely single!" she declares, and has been for about three months.
"It's all rubbish really," she says of her reported romantic entanglements, "I have friends that are guys, but I'm not really available for a relationship right now. When the time is right, I'm sure my Prince Charming will present himself. It's a good time to be single."
Or a good time to be Kelly Brook.
