A decomposed body found floating Sunday in Newport Harbor may be that of a woman reported missing more than a week ago, authorities said.

The body was discovered by fishermen at about 7:15 a.m. in water west of Jamboree Road near Bayview Way, said Newport Beach police Sgt. Keith Krallman.

The body may be that of Swee Ai Oh, 50, who was last seen leaving for a walk near the Back Bay in Newport Beach at about 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 12. Her family reported her missing to police the next day. Oh is described as Asian, approximately  5’02”, 120 pounds with shoulder-length black hair, black eyes, a thin build and fair complexion.

She was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, gray pants and possibly a watch. She may also use the names Adelyn Loo or Adelyn Oh, family members said.

Krallman stressed that police have not positively determined that the body is that of Oh.

“It’s a possibility, but we’re waiting for the coroner’s investigation to notify us of the true identify,” Krallman said.

It is not clear whether Oh’s family has been contacted about Sunday’s discovery, Krallman said. There was no immediate indication as to what might have been the cause of death.
