Redondo Beach quits Facebook: The Daily Breeze reports that the city of Redondo Beach is putting its official Facebook page on hold because of legal concerns:
Among them are whether Redondo Beach would have to retain user comments under the state's Public Records Act -- a task that would likely come with a cost -- and how officials would handle erroneous or vulgar posts that could arguably be protected by 1st Amendment rights.
Furthermore, could a Facebook post attracting comments from three or more council members constitute a violation of the state's open meetings law?
L.A. alley photography: There's a pretty cool photography blog, Los Angeles Alleys, which aims to reveal the (sometimes hidden) beauty in abandoned parts of the city. From a recent picture of Chinatown:

Bike lane progress: Streetsblog L.A. reports that two more miles of Reseda Boulevard have been painted with bike lanes:
Looking at the numbers: this past weekend's striping brings the total Reseda Boulevard bike lanes completed to 8.2 miles of the 10.8 miles approved in 1996. In the north San Fernando Valley, there are now 4.9 miles from Sesnon Blvd. to Parthenia St., and in the south Valley, 3.3 miles from Vanowen St. to Reseda Blvd.'s southerly terminus.
Good local empanadas: Banana Wonder blogger Anna wrote a post about the empanadas at Empanada's Place in Costa Mesa:
I started off with the Spinach empanada crammed also with mozzarella, parmesan, and "white sauce." I enjoyed the delicate, melt-in-your-mouth bite of this dough baby. The dough layer is thin, creating just a holding pouch for the innards. It was gone in a green flash.
