Wacky race a boon to Long Beach shops, restaurants

Flugtag boon: The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports on how the Red Bull Flugtag -- a race of wacky, human-powered flying machines -- impacted local businesses, complete with video (above):

Sales soared for many nearby restaurants and pubs, which reported numbers rivaling those made during the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach as Flugtag-viewing customers filled businesses looking for cool, shady places to eat and drink.

"It was absolutely fabulous for us," said Bobby Fogg, general manager at Hooters at 71 Aquarium Way, where lines were out the door.
