Areas of Southern California swelter under triple-digit heat

Triple-digit temperatures were recorded across Southern California on Wednesday as the region continued to swelter amid a heat wave.

In some cases, the temperatures were a degree or two cooler than those recorded Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

By Wednesday afternoon, temperatures were 109 in Woodland Hills, 107 in Lancaster and 90 in downtown Los Angeles. Along the coast, it was 68 degrees at the Santa Monica Pier.

In Ventura County, temperatures ranged from 69 at Point Mugu to 98 in Fillmore and 109 in Ojai, the weather service said.

Yorba Linda in Orange County hit 99 degrees, while Dana Point was 76 degrees. Santa Ana was 96 degrees, according to the weather Service.

In the Inland Empire, the temperature was 111 in Chino, 108 in Ontario and 113 in Hemet.
