A new, $130-million student center – with restaurants, lounges, a ballroom and offices for student government, a radio station and alumni groups – was formally opened Thursday at USC.
The five-story, 192,000-square-foot Ronald Tutor Campus Center was named after the USC trustee and construction company executive, who donated $30 million as its lead gift. More than 1,000 other donations help fund the new building, officials said.
Designed by the AC Martin Partners architecture firm to echo the Romanesque style that is prevalent across the USC campus, the L-shaped structure surrounds a new outdoor plaza that already has become a popular gathering and dining spot for students and faculty.
