We’re used to Edie Falco’s cropped, no nonsense hair in “Nurse Jackie” so it was great to see her looking so glam on the Emmys red carpet. Hair stylist Matthew Monzon was inspired to go with something “sexy and upswept, a la Brigitte Bardot” he says.

He prepped the actress and Emmy winner’s hair with Kerastase Ciment Thermique from the roots to mid shaft and used Substance Reconstructive also from Kerastase on the ends. He then blow dried her hair with a large round brush for more volume. Once it was dry, he applied a quarter size amount of Kerastase Lumiere Nutri-sculpt, emulsified it in his hands and ran it through Falco’s hair. To get the back of her short hair secured, Monzon twisted pieces and fastened them in the back of her head with bobby pins.
Voila ! Bardot’s sex kitten style for lady’s with short hair.

For much longer locks like "Glee’s" Heather Morrison, stylist Charles Dujic stuck to classic Old Hollywood – Veronica Lake to be exact.

“I was inspired by Veronica Lake’s face framing waves, but the waves are a little looser and softer, which gives it a modern twist,” says Dujic. He started by applying styling foam to Morrison’s damp hair and then made a deep side part in her hair. He dried the hair with a medium-sized brush and then set it into pin curls for soft volume.

After unpinning the hair, he sprayed each section with styling spray and curled the pieces with a 1 ¼-inch curling iron. Finally Dujic finger combed more styling cream through the hair to loosen the curls and sprayed a mist of hairspray over the entire head to lock it in place for the night.
