The rumors that he was offered more money by the New York Knicks didn't offend Shannon Brown in the least.

All along, he said, he knew he wanted to re-sign with the Lakers.

He made it official Wednesday, when he signed a two-year, $4.6-million deal, with his option for the second season.

"All the rumors out there about everybody offering me all this 4 or 5 million dollars and all of that, that's not true," Brown said at a news conference at the Lakers' training facility. "This was just the best situation for what was going on -- a chance to win three NBA championships and a great city to live in, and everything just felt right."

Brown said he was encouraged by Kobe Bryant to return to the Lakers, and that it was impossible to turn that request down.

Brown has played a role off the bench, helping the Lakers win the last two NBA championships.

He averaged a career-best 8.2 points last season.

The 6-foot-4 guard has been known as an athlete who has tremendous leaping ability.

Brown said he has been working on his other basketball skills over the summer.
