If you're familiar with the famously cute ring-tailed lemur but less so with its cousins, let us assure you that a lemur doesn't have to have a black-and-white-striped tail to be adorable.
Take this fellow, a crowned lemur who lives at the Dresden Zoo. Though his tail may be somewhat less impressive than that of his ring-tailed relative, his Dennis Rodman-esque hairstyle has a certain je ne sais quoi, no?
Crowned lemurs, like other members of the family, are native to Madagascar, where deforestation, habitat fragmentation and political unrest are major threats. The crowned lemur is considered vulnerable to extinction by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, a step below endangered on the organization's continuum of concern for a species' survival.
A ring-tailed lemur will always hold a prominent place in our cute-animal-loving hearts, but something about this crowned lemur's bold markings and the rakish way he holds a piece of celery makes him something special, we think. See another photo of this celery snacker after the jump!
