Not all silhouettes were dancing after Apple's announcement Wednesday.
Apple unveiled a new version of its TV hardware for $99 and updated versions of its iPods.
The Apple TV, a product the company has called "a hobby" in the past, was the most talked- about piece of the event. It lets Netflix subscribers stream movies and TV shows, as well as rent programs from iTunes for 99 cents each.
Set-top box competitors jumped, but is it a cable killer? Readers cut through the hype.
MichaelSprague: We won't be grabbing one any time soon. I avoid TV as much as I can, and the wife has two DVRs she's used all the programmable slots on already. Oh Snap! Maybe that means she'll buy on[e] of these as soon as she hears about it. Oye.
RupertOC: Die cable die!!! Nice to have this option. Would love to try paying as I go rather than a monthly subscription.
AllHallows_Eve: The cable companies are so gangster.I love DirecTV.As much tv as I watch, my bill would run up quickly if I paid per view.
Will you be cutting the cord on cable? Discuss in the comments.
