The California Highway Patrol said Thursday afternoon that all lanes in both directions of the 91 Freeway in Fullerton were reopened after downed power lines forced officials to close the busy artery.
A big rig apparently hit the power lines and left on the westbound onramp at South Euclid Street about 1:30 p.m., said Officer Nathan Logan of the CHP's Orange County communications center. All the lanes were shut down but reopened about 4:40 p.m.
The downed lines sparked a grass fire next to the freeway, but the blaze was knocked down by fire crews, Logan said.
The closure snarled traffic on the heavily used freeway in both directions for several hours.
