Marine Staff Sgt. Michael A. Bock, from the base at Twentynine Palms, has been killed in Afghanistan, the Marine Corps announced Sunday.
Bock, 26, from Lake, Fla., died Friday of small-arms fire while on foot patrol in Helmand province. He was on his second Afghanistan deployment, after two deployments to Iraq.
Bock was a combat engineer with the 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, from the Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms.
He is survived by his wife, Tiffany, and their 3-year-old son, Zander.
